GIS
HAGIS
HAGIS is an example of a web-based GIS we developed for medical centre De Roerdomp in Nieuwegein in cooperation with Voswiz consultants.
It is a GIS that allows doctors to see the locations of certain (combinations of) health problems in combination with social data about the area.
The system was built in the Python programming language by combining Mapserver, GDAL and Postgis
Please visit the demonstration version to check it out.
GIS is short for Geo-Information Systems or Geo-Information Science. It is the field of work that gathers information about our surroundings into (computer) systems which allow us to query, analyse and visualise these data. The most common examples of GIS are the navigation systems in our cars. Other examples of GIS are Google Earth and Mapserver.
GIS can help your organisation in many ways. Examples of how a GIS can be useful for you are:
- Show the location of your company and let people get driving directions
- Show the general public plans for a certain city district and receive feedback
- Show insurance companies changes in public health in the district you as a health-care centre are operating in, compared to other districts
In order to help you with implementing GIS solutions we can supply training on how to use existing GIS solutions like Google Maps or Google Earth, but we can also develop new GIS applications for you, preferably building on top of existing solutions.
